In Memory of Virginia Lammer

August 11, 1923 – July 29, 2022

Virginia was born August 11, 1923 in Fillmore County, Iowa. She graduated from Garryowen High School in June 1939 and received her teaching degree from Mount Mercy College in June 1941. Upon graduation, Virginia taught in a one-room schoolhouse for several years, then married Dominic Lammer on June 5, 1945. From 1945 until 1971, Virginia was a homemaker and mom to Linda, Michael, Lisa, Kevin and Mary Beth. In 1972 Virginia continued her education at the University of Dubuque and taught kindergarten at Audubon Elementary School, retiring in 1987. Virginia was an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering for various organizations in her retirement. She adored her 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Virginia felt blessed to have connected with the Presentation Sisters through both Sisters Barbara Rastatter and Margaret Anne Kramer at St. Anthony Church in Dubuque. She admired the dedication of both sisters in their position as pastoral associate. She was so impressed that she longed to learn about the Associate Partnership program. After orientation and discernment, Virginia became an associate on November 2, 2003. At her death, Virginia had been an associate for almost 19 years! She will be deeply missed by all who know and loved her.
