In Memory of Sister Maria Goretti Dullard

July 30, 1934 – April 22, 2013

Sister Maria Goretti Dullard, 78, daughter of Walter and Mary (Erue) Dullard was born Mary Thomasine Dullard on July 30, 1934, in West Union, IA. She entered the Sisters of the Presentation in September 1952 and professed her perpetual vows on June 19, 1958.

She received a BA and MA degrees from Clarke College, Dubuque, IA. Her Presentation career, spanning 58 years, took her to Dougherty, Charles City, Storm Lake, Waukon and Farley, all in Iowa; and Timber Lake, SD. Her ministry years were spent serving as an elementary teacher.

Sister Maria Goretti retired to Mount Loretto in 1995 where she served as receptionist and co-coordinator of the mission clothing room until 2010. She continued with community prayer and service and enjoyed her hobbies of cooking, sewing, reading, playing games, and her love of nature. Sister had a hearty laugh and loved to be teased. She lived her life with commitment to her vows, celebrating her 60th Jubilee last fall. One of her favorite sayings was, “Live life the best way you can.” And she did.

Surviving are her sister, Mary Jane De Moss and her brother, Edward Dullard, nieces and nephews and the Sisters of the Presentation with whom she shared her life for 61 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Joseph.

Memorials may be made to the Sisters of the Presentation, 2360 Carter Road, Dubuque, IA 52001 or online at www.dubuquepresentations.org.
