In Memory of Sister Angela Feeney

August 17, 1916 – July 3, 2012

Sister Mary Angela Feeney, 95, daughter of Jerome and Johanna (Sullivan) Feeney, was born Imelda Gertrude on August 17, 1916 in Dubuque, IA. She entered the Sisters of the Presentation in September, 1937 and professed her perpetual vows on July 31, 1943.

She received her BA from Loras College, Dubuque and her MA from Catholic University, Washington DC. Her Presentation career, spanning 75 years, took her to Waukon, Charles City, Clare, Wahlert High School, Dubuque (1959-1965), Mason City, Farley, Storm Lake, and Algona, all in Iowa. With her entire religious life centered on “making a difference” she was a teacher, a principal, a parish minister to the home-bound and elderly, an archivist, and one of the first volunteer tutors for Presentation Lantern Center. Sister retired in 1989 and developed and used her archivist skills at Mt. Loretto for many years. She enjoyed reading, writing and traveling. Her visits to her Presentation roots in Ireland were trips she cherished. Sister Angela enjoyed volunteering her services wherever they were needed and she continued with prayer and community service until her death.

Surviving are nieces, nephews and the Sisters of the Presentation with whom she shared her life for 75 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Ray and Clair and her sister, Sr. Mary Joanne Feeney, PBVM.

Memorials may be made to the Sisters of the Presentation, 2360 Carter Road, Dubuque, IA 52001 or online at www.dubuquepresentations.org
