Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need to be a Catholic organization to apply?
No. Organizations do not need to be Catholic or faith-based. However, all funded work must align clearly with the Sisters of the Presentation’s values and priorities.
Can individuals apply for grants?
Only the Emergency Fund supports requests from individuals. All other grant programs are intended for nonprofit organizations.
What is the difference between the Charity Fund and the Community Fund?
- The Charity Fund supports small charitable donations, often in response to solicitation letters, for organizations providing direct service or relief.
- The Community Fund supports specific, one-time needs or opportunities – such as event sponsorships, equipment purchases, or training expenses – through a structured online application process.
Do you fund general operating support?
Yes, through the Mission Fund. Emergency, Charity, and Community Funds are intended for specific or short-term purposes. Legacy Fund grants are for specific capacity-building purposes.
Can I apply to more than one fund in the same year?
In most cases, organizations should submit requests to only one fund per year. Exceptions may be considered, but submitting multiple requests does not increase the likelihood of funding.
Are there deadlines to apply?
Deadlines vary by fund:
- Emergency and Charity Funds are reviewed on a rolling basis
- Community Fund applications are received on a rolling basis and reviewed monthly
- Mission Fund applications are reviewed twice a year
- Legacy Fund grants are made by invitation
How are grant decisions made?
Grant decisions are guided by alignment with Presentation values, strategic priorities, and the purpose of each fund. Applications are reviewed by staff and/or the Grants Committee, with final approval by the Leadership Team.
Will we receive feedback if our request is not funded?
Due to the volume of requests, we are not always able to provide individualized feedback. Applicants are encouraged to carefully review fund guidelines before applying.
How will we be notified of a decision?
All applicants will be notified of funding decisions by email following the applicable review process.
