Prayer Service for Peace in Solidarity with Immigrants

In response to recent fatal shootings in Minnesota and growing concern for the safety of all and dignity of immigrant communities nationwide, the Sisters of the Presentation will host a community-wide prayer service. The event follows the Presentation community’s recent public statement affirming their solidarity with immigrants and condemning inhumane treatment, lack of due process and the escalation of fear and violence in immigrant communities.

All are welcome to gather with us in prayer as we hold our immigrant sisters and brothers,
their families and all involved in these events in a spirit of solidarity and hope.

“As people of faith, we refuse to stand by silently as we see our immigrant neighbors being treated with stunning cruelty in repeated instances by government agents,” said the Sisters of the Presentation in their statement. “Immigration is a moral matter that calls for respecting the dignity of immigrants and demands a response rooted in justice and mercy.
Now is the time.”

“Our faith calls us to honor the sacred dignity of every person and to speak out when that dignity is threatened and the safety of all is jeopardized,” states Sister Carmen Hernandez, congregational leader for the Sisters of the Presentation.

“Now is the time to come together as a community, show up for one another and support one another — even when it requires courage, risk and hospitality that stretches us beyond our comfort zones. This is how we live out that calling. In this moment, we are invited to pause, to pray and to hold one another in solidarity,”

For those at a distance or unable to attend in person, the prayer service will be livestreamed at https://video.ibm.com/channel/sisters-of-the-presentations. You will need to enter the password PBVM2020 (case sensitive).
