Sister Paula Schwendinger Shares Border Experiences
Sister Paula Schwendinger recently published a small volume entitled, Are We There Yet? Sister Paula summarizes the poignant life experiences of thirty refugees, many of whom arrived at the southern border of Texas seeking safety from drug cartels exhorting their life savings and belongings in exchange for their lives. The book is illustrated in pencil sketches by Fatima, a local immigrant artist.
In the summer of 2021, Sister Paula worked with other religious persons and service organizations in Laredo, Texas, to assist the immigrants to safety in homes of relatives all over the United States. This work is bound to change the hearts of many readers about the threats to immigrants and our need to receive them. The book is available for $10. Her previous publication is also available: Silent Voices in the Shadows, stories of undocumented immigrants living in our midst.
