2020 Associate Commitments
We Welcome Associate Lisa Schmidt!
As is a sign of the times, Lisa Schmidt recently completed her associate orientation process via Zoom and also celebrated her commitment with the community over Zoom on November 17, 2020. Lisa began her journey with the Sisters of the Presentation 23 years ago in Algona, Iowa, and was a member of the congregation for 10 years.
During that time Lisa ministered with Alternative Services in Dubuque and at Sojourner Truth House in Gary, Indiana. After completing massage therapy school, Lisa worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids and at the EXCEL Program in Okolona, Mississippi. In 2011 Lisa moved back to Dubuque and continued to work as a massage therapist, providing massages to the sisters at Mount Loretto for the past seven years. Earlier this year Lisa moved to her hometown of West Bend, Iowa, where she owns and operates Homestead Country Store.
Lisa shares, “The Presentation Sisters have been a significant part of my life for over 23 years. My connection and friendship with Sister Sharon Kelchen, now deceased, and many other sisters and associates continues. The Presentation community welcomed me into this relationship, and it has been a journey of a lifetime. I have gained much more than I could ever have given. The desire to become an associate gives me hope to continue to walk this path and share in the dream and future of what the Presentation Sisters represent.”
